Tahsis is a small village on the west coast of Vancouver Island, nestled in a sheltered inlet leading to Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet with their World Class Salmon and Halibut Fishing. In the summertime American, Albertan and European fishermen converge on the town for a west coast wilderness fishing adventure.

Tahsis is home to fabulous kayaking, hiking, fresh water fishing West Bay Parkand salt water fishing, caving, boating, scuba diving, sightseeing, and plentiful chances to spot wildlife, often within town. Tahsis is only a 2-1/2 hour drive from Campbell river. Rugged MountainOur community has benefited from the increased interest in Northern Vancouver Island. Tahsis is still providing a window of opportunity for those seeking a retirement home or a change of lifestyle, and those chosing to relocate to Tahsis are coming to one of the most spectacular and natural areas of Vancouver Island. Our climate is one of the best on Northern Vancouver Island, as we are in the centre of a mild climatic pocket that gives us very moderate winter weather as well as our sunny summers. Bald Eagles are commonly seen about Tahsis and areaTahsis has a Recreation Center, Marina, Health Center, Library, local Historical Museum, Post Office, and K-12 school.

Tahsis has High Speed Internet supplied by Conuma Cable, and is starting to attract a core of Internet Professionals who make their living on the Internet, but prefer to live in a place with a lower cost of living, and clean air and water. In Tahsis they are close to nature, and memories of commuting, traffic and stress are gradually fading away.

Another big change for Tahsis, are the improvements over the last few year on our gravel road between here and Gold River. Major work has been done with the largest incline and roughest spots to widen, straighten and pave these portions of the road.  In the 4 years I have lived here, the time it takes us to drive from Tahsis to Gold River has reduced from an hour and a half to an hour and 5 minutes.

The Tahsis Recreation Centre is open 2:00 to 9:00 PM daily, and has an Indoor Pool open 6 days a week, Internet cafe for visitors and locals to surf, a pool table, 7 pin bowling, a climbing wall, gym, community kitchen and meeting rooms. It is the hub for many local events and activities.

Municipal Village OfficeThe Village of Tahsis has received approval for an Oyster Farm and completed the Business Plan, and held two public meetings. Tahsis Welcome Sign
